Principal AccountabilityHealthcare for today and tomorrow is a joint effort between the community, the hospital and foundations like this one. The mission of the Geary Community Healthcare Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is to raise funds for the support of healthcare programs in Geary County, and to support the needs of Geary Community Hospital.Geary Community Healthcare Foundation is searching for an Executive Director who will be the key management leader responsible for overseeing the administration, programs, and strategic plan of the organization, primarily through philanthropic and grant seeking priorities.Other key duties include fundraising, marketing, and community outreach. The position reports directly to the Geary Community Healthcare Foundation Board and collaborating closely with the hospital CFO.Skills and KnowledgeHigh level strategic thinking and planning in a fundraising and friend-raising organization.Ability to envision and convey the organizations strategic future to the staff, board, volunteers and donors.Ability to effectively communicate the organizations mission and priorities to donors, volunteers and the overall community.Demonstrated ability to motivate and collaborate with staff, trustees and community partners.Solid organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation.Ability to socialize with external constituents and prospective donors.Strong written and oral communication skills.Strong public speaking ability.Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy.Experience:Five or more years nonprofit management experience in a foundation and/or development office. Hospital experience preferred.Experience and skill in working with a Board of Directors and Community Foundation Boards.A history of successfully generating new revenue streams.Active fundraising experience. Excellent donor relations skills and understanding of the funding community.Previous success in establishing relationships with individuals and organizations of influence including funders, partner agencies and volunteers.Track record of success in leading fundraising campaigns and programs.Education:A Bachelors degree in business, healthcare administration or other related field, MHA or MBA preferred.General Duties:1) Board Governance: Works with board in order to fulfill the organization mission.Responsible for leading the Foundation Board in a manner that supports and guides the organizations mission as defined by the Foundation Board of Directors.Responsible for communicating effectively with the Foundation Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Foundation Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.2) Financial Performance and Viability: Develops resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization.Responsible for fundraising and developing other revenues necessary to support the Foundations mission.Responsible for the fiscal integrity, to include submission to the Board of a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements, which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization.Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.3) Organization Mission and Strategy: Works with board and staff to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning and community outreach.Responsible for philanthropic planning to ensure that Geary Community Hospital can successfully fulfill its Mission into the future.Responsible for the enhancement of Geary Community Hospitals image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic and private organizations.4) Organization Operations: Oversees and implements appropriate resources to ensure that the operations of the organization are appropriate.Responsible for the hiring and retention of competent, qualified staff as appropriate.Responsible effective administration of the Foundations operations.Responsible for understanding all notes, agreements, and other instruments made and entered into and on behalf of the organization.Actual Job ResponsibilitiesReport to and work closely with the Board of Directors to seek their involvement in fundraising and to increase the overall visibility of the organization.Supervise, collaborate with organization staff.Strategic philanthropic planning and implementation.Planning and operation of annual budget.Serve as Geary Community Hospitals primary spokesperson to the organizations constituents, the media and the general public regarding philanthropic maters.Establish and maintain relationships with various organizations and utilize those relationships to strategically enhance the Foundation Boards Mission.Engage in fundraising and developing other revenues such as grant seeking.Oversee marketing and other communications efforts of the Foundation.Support organization Board and committee meetings.Review and approve contracts for services.Other duties as assigned by the Foundation Board of Directors.
